It is different when one wants to walk. At certain times of the day there are a lotof people on foot in London’s Oxford Street. But the streets near the Ginza in Tokyo always have alot of people on foot, and sometimes it is really difficult to walk. People are very polite;there are just too many of them. The worst time to be in the street is at 11:30 at night. That is whenthe nightclubs are closing and everybody wants to go home. There are 35,000 nightclubs in Tokyo, and youdo not often see one that is empty.
During the day, most people travel to and from work by train, Tokyo peoplebuy six million train tickets every day. At most stations, trains arrive every two or threeminutes, but at certain hours there do not seem to be enough trains. Although they are usuallycrowded, Japanese trains are very good. They always leave and arrive on time. On a London train youwould see everybody reading a newspaper. In Tokyo trains everybody in a seat seems to be asleep, whether his journey is long or short.

Passage 3
Question 26-30 are based on the following passage.
Over the past ten years, people — especially young people — have come torealize the need to change their eating habits, because much of the food they eat, particularly processed foods, is not good for the health. As a result, there has been a growing interest innatural foods: foods which do not contain chemicals and which have not been affected by the chemicalfertilizers widely used in farming today.
Natural foods include vegetables, fruit and grain which have been grown insoil that is rich in essential vitamins and minerals. This is a natural process, in comparisonwith the use of chemicals and fertilizers. In the latter case, the main purpose is to increase theamount — but not the quality — of foods grown in commercial farming areas.
Natural foods also include animals which have been allowed to feed and movefreely in the outdoors. Compare this with what happens in the mass production of poultry:in some farms, for example, thousands of chickens live crowded together. Chickens raised in thisway often do not taste good as food; they also produce eggs which lack important vitamins.
There are other aspects of healthy eating which are now receiving increasingattention from experts on diet. Take, for example, the question of sugar. This is actually anon-essential food! Although a natural product, such as honey, can be good to taste, we can infact do without it.
There are no vitamins in it, no minerals — and no fiber. All it does isprovide us with energy, in the form of calories. Of course, sugar is not harmful in itself, but eatingtoo much of it will cause problems. The fact is that the quantity of sugar we use has grown quicklyover the last two hundred years and in Britain today each person consumes an average of 200pounds of sugar a year!
Nowadays fiber is considered to be an essential part of a healthy diet. A lotof fiber is found in unprocessed flour and in many vegetables. However, the fiber has beenremoved in foods like white bread. In some countries where the national diet contains largequantities of unrefined flour and vegetables, certain diseases are comparatively rare. That is why modernexperts on “healthy eating” place a lot of emphasis on the eating of vegetables.
26. Which of the following statements is true according to the passage?
A. Today, it is still a widely adopted practice to chemically fertilizecrops.
B. Natural foods are foods produced in large quantities.
C. Today people are no longer eating foods containing chemicals.
D. Processed foods are more welcomed than natural foods.
27. In the second paragraph of this passage, “the latter case” refers to________.
A. natural process
B. quality
C. the use of chemicals and fertilizers
D. quantity
28. Growing vegetables in natural process means to_________.
A. increase
B. improve their quality
C. use fertilizer
D. attract more attention from people
29. According to the writer,we can in fact eat________.
A. no fat
B. no sugar
C. no vegetables
D. no vitamins
30. The meaning of the last word “vegetables” in this passage is_____.
A. vegetables grown in natural process
B. vegetables grown with the use of chemicals and fertilizers
C. essential part of a healthy diet
